The deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan, at the 13th Prof. I.A.B memory Ramadan lecture organized by the Muslim community of Bodija Eastate and its environs stated that not everyone who joined politics because of hunger or to satisfy personal interest.
Olaniyan also used the lecture to call for the resuscitation of Islamic education in the state for it will boost the moral values of the youths.
Olaniyan who engaged the Muslim faithful on the topic, “Moral Lessons in Islam” asserts that through the teachings and knowledge of Islam, insecurity and other challenges presently facing the country will be addressed and conquer.
Olaniyan said, “Islam education will help eradicate the defiant posturing of our youths and other societal ills, not just in Oyo State, but acorss board.
“The decline and decadency in Islamic and lack of knowledge by some Islamic preachers has affected the morals of the youth negatively”.
He used the lecture session to call on all recognised Islamic institutions in the state to step up efforts in resuscitating Islamic education.
Speaking on his involvement in politics, he said, “Aside the fact that am an engineer, i retired as a Permanent Secretary after 26 good years of service in the Oyo State civil service and am saying it categorically that my joining politics is on principle and not for selfish or personal reason, likewise many others.
He explained that the holy Quran also subscribes to faithful and dilligent participation in politics, opining that politics gives one the opportunity to serve humanity.
