Nigerian Hospital Receives  US Grant For Cancer Research

Cedarcrest Hospitals has been awarded a medical research grant by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to conduct cancer research.

This was revealed by the agency, in a statement on its website, said, “It has awarded a grant to Nigeria’s Cedarcrest Hospitals Limited for a feasibility study to develop a comprehensive cancer treatment centre in Abuja that will provide diagnosis and treatment services for up to 1,000 patients per year.

“will provide the analysis required for Cedarcrest to design and implement a comprehensive cancer treatment centre that will improve access to oncology services. The centre will offer full-range oncology services to include prevention and screening, diagnostics, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgical oncology, and radiotherapy.”

Speaking about the development, the President of the Guild of Medical Directors, Dr Abiodun Kuti, congratulated the Chief Executive Officer of Cedarcrest, Dr Felix Ogedegbe, on the achievement.

He said, “This achievement by a member of the Guild is a testament to the quality of service and excellence the member institutions of the Guild of Medical Directors bring to health care delivery in Nigeria.

“Our members collectively are responsible for over 60 per cent of patient care in Nigeria. We affirm our commitment to excellent care for our clients. In this climate of massive brain drain in the health workforce, the Guild is committed to working with partners and stakeholders to advance the quality, availability, and affordability of care for everyone in Nigeria.”
