Nasarawa Coach Faults Govt

Nasarawa United team coach  Kabiru Dogo has blamed the Nasarawa  State Government for  his team’s poor season start on the government.

The Lafia club, who are currently on the 12th position in the Premier League table, have lost six games, winning four and drawing one in 11 games.

Dogo, who spoke to reporters after leading his team to a 1-0 victory over   Wikki Tourists  at the Lafia  Stadium on Sunday, said delayed salaries, signing-on fees and allowances  had been a major factor that affected the players.

He said, “Late response by the state government to our early demands is what is affecting the morale of the players. We don’t always start on a good note due to poor preparations.”

Suleiman Muhammed  scored for Nasarawa after  Wikki goalkeeper Chinedu Udeh failed to stop a shot that came from a Nasarawa player.

The Nasarawa State Government-owned outfit  were hit by financial crisis last season, with some of the players owed salaries and match allowances.

The coach  explained that  Nasarawa won the game against  Wikki   due to the determination of the team to succeed.

On Nasarawa’s slow start to the season,  the chairman of the club  Isaac Danladi said,  “I cannot comment on that for now.”

In an interview with our correspondent, Wikki  coach  Bala Nikyu attributed the defeat of his team to a  lack of concentration, promising  that the Bauchi club would win their next match  at home.
