My Suspension From Igbimo Agba–Osun Laughable – Elder Lowo Adebiyi

My Suspension From Igbimo Agba–Osun Laughable – Elder Lowo Adebiyi

Elder Lowo Adebiyi, the former State of Osun Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria, (ACN) which metamorphosed into the All Progressive Congress, (APC) has bemoaned the sad developments within the state chapter of the ruling APC.

Adebiyi emphasized that the negative developments happening in the State of Osun Chapter of the APC could spell doom for the party if urgent and necessary steps are not taken to quickly arrest the situation and return the party to the right track ahead of the 2022 governorship election in the state.

The APC chieftain spoke with Osun Defender reporter on the backdrop of his suspension by “Igbimo Agba–Osun,” (Osun APC Elders Council) of which Adebiyi is a member.

The group announced his suspension on Tuesday and also endorsed the second-term aspiration of the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

According to media reports, the group claimed to have suspended Adebiyi for causing division within the state of Osun APC, through the formation and participation in a pressure group called The Osun Progressive (TOP).

Elder Adebiyi described his purported suspension by the group as laughable and also despicable.

He claimed to have heard about the said suspension in the media without any prior notice and without giving him any form of hearing.

He wondered why a serious ruling party will be running from pole to pillar in an attempt to decimate members of its party months to the state governorship election like it is presently happening in Osun APC.

Adebiyi said, “the opposition is making efforts to reconcile, mobilize and galvanize their party, ahead of 2022, but APC is busy witch-hunting its members.

The former party chairman carpeted the Igbimo Agba–Osun, who ordinarily should be the promoters of unity, cohesion, and oneness in the party as elders, but have instead turned to bootlickers.

“A forum made up of party elders is supposed to strive to resolve the crisis and ensure that everyone is carried along if and when there is a crisis in the party.”

According to him, the formation of The Osun Progressive (TOP) was born out of the need to rescue the party from disintegration as captured in the seven-point agenda of TOP.

He wondered why anybody or group with the interest of the party at heart will have sleepless nights because of the formation of TOP.

“When has it become a sin to belong to a pressure group in the party”?, Lowo asked.

“Don’t we have other groups within the Osun APC like Oranmiyan, IleriOluwa, etc which other members belong to without any hullabaloo, why is TOP anyones headache”?

He called on the national leadership of the APC to quickly decide on the date for the party’s congress so that the party members in Osun can take back control of their party and begin the process of reposition it.
