Modric Wins 2018 FIFA Best Player Award

Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric has been named the Men’s Best Player Award at the 2018 Best FIFA Football Awards.

The 2018 Best FIFA Football Awards event was held on Monday at London’s Royal Festival Hall with actor Idris Elba and French journalist Anne-Laure Bonnet hosting the show.

The 33 year old midfielder beats Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah to the men’s award.

Brazilian forward Marta won the Best Women’s Award. Brazilian Marta, who plays for the Orlando Pride, beat Ada Hegerberg and Dzsenifer Marozsan to award.

French manager Didier Deschamps won the coach of the Year after leading France to their second World Cup title this summer in Russia.

Reynald Pedros won the award for the Best Women’s Coach of the year after an outstanding season with Lyon.

Pedros guided Lyon to the French league and Champions League double. His side was unbeaten in the Division 1 Feminine and he also guided the team to the Coupe de France Feminine final.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah won the Fifa Puskas Award for his stunning goal against Everton in the English Premier League.

Real Madrid keeper and former Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois won the Best Goalkeeper Award. The Belgian goalkeeper beat Kasper Schmeichel and Hugo Lloris to the award.

Peru fans won the best fan award while Lennart Thy got the Fair play award.

Thy missed a game for VVV-Venlo against PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie to donate stem cells to try and help a Leukaemia patient.

The Fifpro World XI had David De Gea in goal, Dani Alves, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Rapheal Varane in defence. In midfield, Luka Modric, N’golo Kante, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, and Kylian Mbappe while Cristiano Ronaldo leads the attack.
