Tragedy struck in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun on Monday evening when a driver crushed to death, a pupil of a middle school in the town.
According to reports, the irate mob swung into action when the yet to be identified driver hit the boy named Azeez Samad as a result of a break failure which sent the young boy to his untimely grave.
The incident that occurred in front of Ayegbaju International Market situated along the Old Governors office in the metropolis attracted the presence of members of the public who rushed to the scene.
The driver of the vehicle burnt to ashes and his wife alongside his child were said to have been taken to an undisclosed hospital.
They were rescued before the infuriated members of the public and angry passers by took law in their hands.
The Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, Mrs. Folasade Odoro has since confirmed the incident.
Odoro said a team of police men had been swiftly dispatched to restore sanity to the area.
