Man Lands In Jail For Stealing Catfish In Osun

A Magistrates’ court sitting in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Monday remanded a 23-year-old man, Abiodun Olasunkanmi in Ilesha prison for allegedly stealing cat fish, worth of N800,000 from a fish pond in the state.

The prosecutor, Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun informed the court that the defendant committed the offense on 25th April, at about 5.30am around Rinsayo area of the metropolis

Abiodun said that the accused, who was a worker at the fish pond stole large quantity of cat fish valued at 800,000.

He added that the offense is contrary to and punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11.Laws of Osun State 2003.

The defendant, however pleaded not guilty to the allegation leveled against him.

The Defense Counsel, Barrister Okobe Najite prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

The magistrate, Mrs O. A Oloyade granted the defendant bail of 500,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

She said sureties must sworn to affidavit of means and provide evidence of tax payments with three passports photography.

The case was later adjourned till May 21 for hearing.

The accused was therefore remanded at Ilesha prison, when he could not perfect his bail conditions.
