Man Jailed For Forgery In Osun

A 44-year-old man, Akeem Yusuf was on Tuesday sentenced to one year imprisonment for forgery by the state of Osun Magistrate court, Osogbo.
The presiding magistrate, Olubukola Awotunde sentenced the convict to a year imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the two count charge preferred against him by Police prosecutor, Mr. Lamidi Rasaq.
The charge read, “Yusuf did conspire to commit felony on March 13 at Kolabalogun area in osogbo.
“Yusuf did forge a letter headed paper, seal, officials stamp and signature of Barrister Gbadebo and Co Chambers.
” Yusuf used the stamp and signature to prepared a letter of appeal to UK embassy.
Lamidi explained that the offense committed by the convict contravened section 516, Section 467, (4) (b) of the criminal criminal code cap 34 volume. 11 laws of osun state of Nigeria.
Upon arraignment, on August 11th, 2017, Yusuf pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy and felony after the Magistrate ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody.
The defense counsel, Mr. Abimbola  Ige told the court that the convict is a first time offender. He also pleaded that the court should temper justice with mercy.
He said “Based on the report I was able to gathered from the prison about the convict, shows that he has been cooperating in a good manner in the custody.
The magistrate,  Mrs Awodele in her ruling sentenced him to a year imprisonment with an option of N10,000 fine.
