Man Docked Over Alleged N700,000 Fraud

An Osogbo Magistrate Court in Osun state on Monday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Diran Olawale for allegedly stealing 700,000 belonging to Abiona Adelakun.

Olawale is docked on a three-count charge bothering on   false pretence, stealing and breach of public peace.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adewuyi Kehinde told the court that the accused person committed the offence sometimes in April, 2011 at Olobi Street in Owo-Ope area of Osogbo.

Adewuyi stated that the accused obtained the sum of money from the complainant with pretence to purchase a plot of land for her at Ota-Efun area Osogbo.

She explained further that the defendant also stole the stated sum of money belonging to Abiona Adelakun.

According to prosecutor, the accused also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by converting the money into his own use.

Prosecutor Adewuyi submitted that the offence contravened section 419, 390 which is punishable under section 290(d) of the criminal code cap 34 volume 11.laws of Osun State 2003.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge alleged against him.

Defense counsel Barr. Alayokun Abayomi prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal and affordable terms.

Alayokun guaranteed the court that the suspect is ready to provide a reliable surety if granted bail.

The magistrate, Mrs O. Oloyade granted the accused person bail in the sum of 500,000 with two sureties in the same sum.

The case was adjourned till May 3rd for hearing.
