LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Education A Tool For Proper Development

Education can be used to change the society for better, if the society embraces it. If education is the culture and heritage that can be bequeath on generations to come and can be used to solve some fundamental problems facing the nation, adequate attention must be paid to it in the society.

However, all major stakeholders in the education sector, ranging from the parent, teachers government and students must uphold its stem to prevent its decay.

Meanwhile, some governments have paid adequate attention to the education system like the one being done in Osun by the State government under Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, but it is unfortunate that some parents are not complementing these efforts. Parents need to realise that a major appreciable legacy to leave behind is education, which will eradicate illiteracy and maintain societal peace and stability.

The destiny of nations are built in the classrooms, meaning that what it takes to tackle the monsters of corruption and insecurity must be produced, hence quality education  in whatever form brings fulfillment to the life of students, teachers, parents and the society as whole.

However, teachers who have passion and charisma for teaching must be able to influence attitudes of students and expose students to the best of education. The nation needs creative teachers who will meet the needs of students, in terms of social skills, moral, emotional and intellectual development for them to be useful in and for the society.

Therefore, everyone needs to support the drive to reform the nation’s education sector for better result and contribute totally to its achievements on society at large.
