A 63-year-old lawyer, Olakanmi Ogunyemi was docked on Monday before a Magistrate court in Osogbo over alleged contempt of court.
The Prosecutor, Supol Fagboyinbo Abiodun informed the court that the accused person committed the offence sometimes in November 15, 2016 till date, at the Magistrate Court 2 Osogbo.
He explained that being an accused person in charge NO MOS/583/2013, the accused intentionally disrespected the court by failing to appear in court when his case was mentioned since 2016.
Barrister Olakanmi pleaded not guilty to the single charge preferred against him.
The defence counsel applied for the bail of the accused person in liberal terms and conditions.
The Magistrate, Mrs Awodele Modupe granted the bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.
The sureties must swear to an affidavit of means and must reside within the court jurisdiction and one of the sureties must be a civil servant within the state.
The case was adjourned to August 10 for hearing.
