A self acclaimed President of Yoruba Nation, Ms. Modupe Onitiri Abiola has announced secession from Nigeria.
Modupe is one of the wives of the late MKO Abiola.
Osun Defender recalls that “OminiraYoruba” group led by Ms Modupe Onitiri Abiola whose members and supporters allegedly invaded the Oyo State Government House on Saturday hoisted Yoruba Nation flag at the Government House.
The masked men were dressed in Army camouflage and armed with rifles. They took strategic positions at the Secretariat.
While some of them manned the entrance of the governor’s office, the rest were seen at the entrance to the State House of Assembly gate and the main entrance, among others.
The situation sent shocks across the entire area. Also, the security operatives on duty at the secretariat had fired tear gas canisters to disperse them.
Officers of the state Police Command and other anti-crime agencies stormed the entrance to the Secretariat in numerous patrol vans and arrested them.
However in a viral video circulating on social media, Modupe said herself and her other Yoruba Nation Agitators have seized to be citizens of Nigeria and declared Yoruba Nation as a country.
