Landlords Give Fedpoly, Offa Students 3 – Month Free Accommodation

House owners in Offa, Kwara State have given students of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa free accommodation for three months.

The wavier is said to cover the rent of the months of October through November, elapsing in December.

The move, according the Students’ Union Government of the institution, Isiaq Adesoji was to help cushion the effects of the harsh economy and avert the challenges of students paying rent.

Adesoji stated that the decision was arrived at after holding several meetings and persuasion sessions with the Offa Descendants’ Union and the landlords’ association in the community, adding that the free house rent does not cover payments for utility bills.

He said a committee had been instituted for the implementation as well as attending to issues that might arise, warning students against fighting any landlord or caretakers.

He said: “Sequel to the early information released by the Students’ Union Government, through the office of the Public Relations Officer on the 4th October 2020, regarding the SUG moves on the house rent challenges our students are likely to face.

“After series of consultation and pleading with the Offa Descendants’ Union and the landlords’ association of Offa community, we wish to inform the entire students that the outcome of our meeting has yielded free three months consecutive house rent, which will start from October to December.

“It is pertinent to state that the three months free house rent doesn’t include the utility fee.

“We beseech the entire students to avoid fighting with their landlords or the caretakers, as the Students’ Union Government has put a certain committee in place that will be in charge of any issue that arises during the process.”

He appreciated O. D. U and the entire landlords’ association for giving the students the waiver.
