Lagos Hospital Shut Down After Pregnant Woman Dies During Child Birth

A hospital in Lagos, Medville Global Health Center at Ago Palace way in Okota area of Lagos State has been shut down by the Lagos State government.

The action was taken after one Chibuike Nwachukwu accused the hospital of being responsible for his wife’s death.
The Executive Secretary of the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA), Abiola Idowu stated that preliminary investigation revealed that the hospital was not registered with HEFAMAA, and did not have adequate medical personnel.

Nwachukwu alleged that his wife died due to the medical incompetence of the hospital.

He claimed that his wife was induced to speed up the labor but 10 hours later she had still not given birth.
After a series of procedures his wife died while the baby was taken to an intensive care unit at another hospital.
Solanke Koya, chairman of the HEFAMAA board, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case so as to uncover the facts surrounding the death of Nwachukwu’s wife.
