Lagos Gets New Assembly Speaker After Obasa’s Impeachment

Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Metanda (Apapa I) has emerged as the new Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Before her emergence as the Speaker, Meranda was the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.
Her emergence followed the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa as the Speaker of the House of Assembly over gross misconduct and abuse of office.
It was gathered that in December 2024, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had been petitioned to investigate Obasa over allegations of financial misconduct, breach of public trust, and abuse of office.
