Iwo Day 2018: Adeoti Congratulates Oluwo, Indigenes, Residents

By Sikiru Obarayese

Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the September 22 governorship election in Osun, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has congratulated the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurasheed Adewale Akanbi, indigenes and residents of Iwo on the occasion of the 2018 edition of the annual Iwo Day celebration.

The congratulatory message was contained in a goodwill message issued and signed on his behalf by his media aide, Mr Kayode Agbaje and made available to newsmen.

According to Adeoti, the essence of  this year’s edition of the annual Iwo Day celebration is a clarion call to all sons and daughters, as well as non-indigenes that are residents in the ancient town on the need to continue to live together in unity, with a view to ensuring peace and tranquility.

He stressed that it is only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that the ancient town can witness meaningful development.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on all and sundry, especially all residents of Iwoland on the need to continue to dwell together in peace without allowing religious or political sentiments to divide us.

“It is only in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility that Iwoland can witness meaningful development through our collective efforts,” Adeoti further stated.

He also congratulated the Iwo paramount ruler, the Oluwo of Iwoland,  while wishing him more celebration of the occasion in good health and prosperity.

He also used the avenue to shower encomiums on the monarch on his style of leadership which has culminated into drastic overall development of not only Iwoland but all surrounding towns and villages.

Alhaji Adeoti also admonished the youths in the ancient town on the need to direct their youthful energies and God-given talents towards ventures that can positively transform their lives and shun attempts by anyone, no matter how highly-placed, willing to use them as tools to truncate the peace of the town.

“I like to admonish our youths on the need to have a positive mindset about life and direct all their energies and God-given talents towards ventures that would further bring development to Iwo town and its environs.

“They should shun overtures from selfish individuals who don’t mean well for the town but may want to use them to truncate the current peaceful atmosphere of the town,” he emphasized.
