ISSUES & POLICY: Finishing Strongly

Ogbeni Aregbesola the indefatigable outgoing governor of the State of Osun started on the right note by implementing his thoroughly prepared six point agenda. As in the last hours in office of United States President Bill Clinton, the Ogbeni Governor is closing the deal on a high note.

For example yesterday’s kick-off of the Ilesha new town is a seminal advance. The strategically located town of Ilesha so steeped in the economic and political history of Nigeria is now about to get a superb new lease of life. The new town will definitely become a fulcrum of Social and economic activities. It will become an economic zone leveraging on the famed entrepreneurial spirit of Ijeshaland. As he winds down, we are absolutely sure that there will be further initiatives like this to mark the end of an invigorating era.

The Health Insurance Scheme

We must also give kudos to the State of Osun House of Assembly for passing the State Health Insurance Scheme Bill 2018 into law.

The importance of the bill cannot be overemphasized. As the speaker of the House Dr Najeem Salaam who asked for the effective implementation of the bill has pointed out, “there are lots of benefits that State of Osun will benefit from this law if been in operation and this law will enable the State to progress on health sector as well.”

“The law will also take good care of average citizens and children health” he added.

The Speaker made it known that an international organization has granted $200 billion to some state that engaged in health insurance scheme which Osun has joined Abia and Niger state among the beneficiary.

Kudos!
