Isokan South LCDA Embarks On Roads’ Grading, Channelization Of Waterways

Chairman, Isokan South Local Council Development Area, Ikoyi, State of Osun, Prince Wasiu Oyelami, has reiterated his commitment to wipe out poverty and reduce rural migration to urban centers within the council area through development.

According to a statement by the council’s Head of Social Development and Information, Ademola Aminu, Oyelami made this statement during the inspection of the ongoing grading, bulldozing, and rehabilitation of roads and footpaths leading to Ikoyi town from Boladale Junction to various towns, villages, farms and hamlets.

During the inspection, the council chairman expressed satisfaction with the state of work done, while the residents of the area gave kudos to the council management for the development in their area.

The council’s management team led by Oyelami, according to the statement had earlier carried out the rehabilitation of township roads which are, Baba Kekere roads, Alamo roads, Asejire roads.

The administration has also embarked on grading and rehabilitation of Anajere market road and renovation of the shops and stalls of the market, hence commercial drivers, market men and women had been attracted to the market to boost the economy.

“Also, many rural roads in the local government from Boladale to Olufun, Papanda, Iwari-Oloya, Ayanda, Alaka among others had been rehabilitated.

“Earlier too, Prince Oyelalmi has completed the process of managing high water flows from Rivers Adesina and Elemu and other rivers prone to flooding in Ikoyi during raining season”.

The chairman, according to the statement said, the dredging and channelization were done in order to curb incidences of flooding and erosion which always lead to loss of properties whenever it rains.

During their visit to the flood prone zones, the duos of the chairman and the Head of Water and Environmental Sanitation, Mrs. Folasade Awoniyi, according to the statement warned the residents of the area not to take the advantage of the raining season to perform unhygienic acts like pouring wastage/excreta in flowing water anytime it rains in order to fight disease.

The residents of the affected area, in their various reactions commended the chairman for bringing the dividend of democracy to their doorstep.

Meanwhile, the management of the council under Oyelami, in order to curb the activities of criminals has renovated the Nigeria Police station, Ikoyi.

Oyelami reiterated that “the move is an attempt to steer up investment in security so as to fight insecurity in the area, , saying, he was happy that the council was doing well in terms of encouragement to the police to discharge their duties.

Speaking further, he urged the police and other security agencies to be vigilant in order to forestall any security breach, saying that the council is working with other security agencies and other stakeholders within the council so that the relative peace being enjoy is sustained.

He then appealed to residents to volunteer useful information to security agencies assuring that such information would be treated urgently and importantly.
