INSECURITY: Aregbesola Charges Security Agencies To Rise To The Occasion

Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, has tasked security agencies to rise up to the challenges posed by insecurity in the country.

The minister spoke at the commencement of an inter-agencies training on Nigeria’s Internal Security and Public Safety Alert System in Abuja on Thursday.

Aregbesola’s position was contained in a statement signed by Towoju Raphael, on behalf of the ministry’s Director of Press.

The statement was titled, ‘FG flags-off inter-agencies training on internal security, public safety alert system’ and issued at the commencement of the training.

The minister was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore who said, “What you do may save Nigeria from security threats.”

Aregbesola said the ministry was conscious of the country’s current predicament, hence the need to maintain proper synergy among the security agencies under its watch and others in the country.

The training would guarantee effective intelligence gathering, prompt response to emergency distress calls, and inter-agency collaboration.

The minister thereafter charged the participants, who would be posted to the ministry’s situation room after the training, to ensure that they are always punctual to be able to respond promptly to emergencies.
