Ilesa College: Don’t Be Deceived By Oyetola, Citizen Carpets Governor

Ibrahim Sharafa, an indigene of the state of Osun from Iwo local government has exposed Governor Oyetola’s insincerity about the upgrading of the State college of education, Ilesha to a degree awarding institution.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola had yesterday announced the approval of the 44 years old College to operate, henceforth as a University.

Reacting to the development, Ibrahim described the purported upgrading as a desperate move by Oyetola for the sake of his reelection.

“The news reported that Oyetola will be upgrading Ilesa College of Education into a full fledge University. But that is not the true situation of thing. Oyetola was only trying to deceive Ijesa people because no upgrade is happening.

“You want to ask how I know? This is simple and first of all, let me cast your mind back to few months ago when the same Oyetola sold Osun state stake in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) to Oyo State. Although, every details of the deal is still unknown, but we’re aware that Osun will get N8billion from Oyo government over a period of time and also got LAUTECH Teaching Hospital in Osogbo as part of settlement.

“The decision of Oyetola to handover LAUTECH to Oyo state was painful to many Osun people but his excuse was that Osun is not financially capable to fulfill obligations to the school in addition to UNIOSUN.

“Now, Oyetola is bringing up a University and you don’t see already that this is just a deceit to get Ijesa votes and nothing really serious. And again, the news are not telling you everything about the purported University upgrade. No upgrade is happening now, what Oyetola did was contract KPMG to carryout feasibility study on whether upgrading the College to University is sustainable.

“First, KPMG takes a whole lot of money for this kind of job, and some are predicting it to be in the region of 5% of whatever the entire University project will cost. This is the same Oyetola that has refused to pay the 30 months half salary owed workers by his predecessor or do anything tangible to offset the huge gratuities and pensions owed our senior citizens. And mind you, the study by KPMG will take nothing less than 7 months or so before it can come up with a report for the government.

“Do the math. By the time KPMG will come up with its report, which will most certainly advise against the upgrade considering Osun meagre resources, Osun will have had its governorship election, and Oyetola, should Ijesa people fall for his antics, deceived people to get votes. So, Ijesa people, and by extension, Osun people should not fall for Oyetola gimmick as all he is doing now is to deceive people into voting for him and not to sincerely serve them”, Ibrahim expressed.
