The Igbo Conscience (TIC) has condemned the ultimatum by Northern youths to Igbos residing in the north to vacate the region in three months.
TIC however called on the Federal Government to arrest and prosecute such groups that propagate hate, ethnic and sectional disharmony and propaganda against other ethnic nationalities.
In a joint statement yesterday by the Interim Chairman and Secretary of TIC, Mr. Monday Ubani and Peter Claver Oparah, they noted that the body has equally condemned such similar statements from other sinister groups like the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOD) in the past “and we dare to state that the so-called Kaduna Declaration is equally unacceptable.”
While TIC emphasised it’s believe in the peace, unity and togetherness of every Nigerian, it said such statements could divide Nigerians and should not be encouraged.
The group further charged South East Governors, groups and stakeholders to learn good lessons from this “as their silence to the activities of IPOB helped create wrong impressions that spurred such groups as Arewa youths to believe Igbos support the negative activities and statements from IPOB.”
