The Executive Secretary of Ife-North Local Government, Hon. Taiwo Hassan has lauded residents of the various communities in the Local Government for the tremendous support given to his administration since its inauguration.
He assured the people of the area of more developmental projects in the coming year, saying the council is poised to deliver dividends of democracy to its people.
The council boss disclosed this while receiving a youth group from Ipetumodu on a courtesy visit to his office.
He sought the support of the traditional rulers, Chiefs and community leaders in the various communities to help evangelise tax payment and to help educate the populace on the need to perform their civic responsibilities effectively.
“When our people pay their taxes and other rates, we would have enough funds to embark on developmental projects that would impact on their lives and as youth, we want you to reach out to the people in various communities on the need to pay tax.
“If we fail in our duty to provide for the people after discharging their civic responsibilities then we can be called to account for our actions and inaction at the appropriate times”, he added.
He also charged the youths to live a decent life and stay away from acts capable of truncating their lives or destroying their future, especially, he urged the youths to steer clear of indiscriminate use of drugs as a means of association in the society.
According to him, a virile and healthy youth is a blessing to any society but when youth resort to drug abuse as a means of socializing, it becomes a menace to the wellbeing of such society and the drug users as well.
