The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI) has directed the resumption of normal social activities in line with existing laid down procedures.
This was contained by the institution’s registrar, Modupe Fawale, in a press statement on Sunday.Fawale said that the management issued the directive after engaging all organs of the institution and resolved conflicting dates of events, seminars and examinations to the satisfaction of all.
“With this, all planned activities within the institution are to continue with strict adherence to the best practices that will promote continued peace on campus,” it read.
The polytechnic authority also encouraged all officers and students to join hands with the management in ensuring the sustenance of peace being enjoyed in the institution.
The development comes a few hours after the institution suspended social activities — such as conferences workshops, seminars among others on campus.
Fawale had in an earlier statement attributed the suspension to the security situation on campus and the need to maintain compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
According to her, “The authorities of The Polytechnic, Ibadan have suspended all public activities including conferences and seminars and workshops in the Institution and its environment until further notice apart from the ongoing second semester examinations,” the earlier statement read.
“The decision is part of efforts to monitor the security temperature within the Institution and its environment. The decision is also part of efforts to curtail and monitor the continued Covid-19 precautions.”
