Houston Disaster: Did Joel Osteen Even Do Right?

Author, preacher, motivational speaker and millionaire, Joel Osteen, the famed pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, is facing massive criticism on social media for not offering shelter at the megachurch to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

When Osteen’s help was all the people needed, the preacher went online to say he was praying for those affected together with his wife.

The $50-million preacher, who lives in a $10 million home, shut the doors to his massive Lakewood Church in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey — even though it can hold up to 17,000 people.

Osteen posted a notice on his website that the church would be shut over the weekend — and it remained closed Monday. The preacher claimed he was unable to offer his venue as a temporary shelter because the highway in front was flooded.

This trick bounced back on him when a twitter user Charles Clymer posted a picture of the roads leading to the church with no flood whatsoever on the roads. This prompted Twitter users reactions about how he couldn’t open his church for people whose money he used to gather so much wealth.

Then the church advertised how people could help victims but still didn’t open its doors to victims for shelter, the war became more intense as people went as far as using pictures and videos to blast the pastor.

Hours later Osteen was forced to prepare his church for victims as a picture was shared of the church having mattresses lined up for the victims.
