A house being used as ritualists’ den at Yemoja area of Iwo, State of Osun, has been set ablaze by irate residents of the area.
The police uncovered the ritualists’ den, allegedly operated by two siblings identified as Monsuru and Lawal Tajudeen on Monday, following investigations into the disappearance of two people in Iwo.
The remains of the two missing people were exhumed at the den by the police.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the discovery of the den and murder of the two people whose corpses had been discovered.
The exhumed corpses were said to be that of Adeolu Akanbi, a son of a prominent politician in Olaoluwa Local Government and Mutiyat Alani, a housewife in Iwo, who had both been declared missing three weeks ago.
Findings by OSUN DEFENDER revealed that the police, while investigating the disappearance of Alani, tracked her mobile phone, which led to the arrest of a vulcaniser simply identified as Alamu.
Alamu reportedly told the police that he got the phone from one of the siblings and led the police to the house of the ritualists, where they were arrested.
Also, a witch-doctor known as Abere-Ifa at Ajagba in Olaoluwa Local Government has been arrested.
Abere-Ifa was alleged of buying human parts from the ritualists.
Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola confirmed the reports, saying that investigations were still ongoing on the matter.
Opalola said: “We arrested two ritual killers: Tajudeen Monsuru and Tajudeen Lawal. A woman identified as Mutiat Alani was reported missing. We commenced an investigation. The telephone of the missing woman was found with Monsuru.
“The police went to the house and recovered two mutilated corpses. They discovered decomposing bodies. They confessed that they killed many people but only two corpses were recovered. They killed for rituals to help those that patronise them.”
Some irate youths have, on Monday night, burnt down the house being used as abode by the ritualists.
