‘He’s Arrogant’: Basiru, Oyetola Supporters Fight Dirty
The debate over the zoning of the 2026 Osun governorship ticket in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a heated turn, with supporters of Senator Ajibola Basiru and those loyal to former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola clashing on social media.
The controversy erupted following allegations that Basiru is opposing the push to zone the governorship ticket to Osun West Senatorial District, sparking outrage among political stakeholders.
A former aide to Oyetola, Isiaka Ayodele Owoade, who did not mention names fired the first shot on Facebook, saying “He is arrogant and a serial betrayer. Not on my aspirants list.”
His post, which has since been deleted, suggested that the former Senate spokesperson was not among those he would support for the 2026 governorship race.
He wrote, “He is arrogant and a serial betrayer. Not on my aspirants’ list.”
In response, a media aide to Basiru, Virtue Yusuff Olatunji Akeem, dismissed the criticism, stating, “Did he seek your support in any circumstance before? Remember, the world won’t stop turning if you choose not to back him.”
He further asserted that Basiru remains a leader in the party and urged critics to accept the political reality.
