‘HARD WORK Is Surer’ – Ali Baba

King of Comedy, Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere, popularly known as Ali Baba has shared a word of advice with youngsters and upcoming ones especially in the comedy industry to put in hard work in all their endeavours, rather than seeking cheap gains.

In a post published on his Instagram page, Ali Baba recalled how he slept at Bar Beach, squatted at YABATECH, trekked, borrowed, starved and sacrificed so comedy industry can be valued.

“…told a comedian how I slept at Bar Beach. Squatted at Yabatech. Trekked. Borrowed. Starved. Sacrificed… just to show that stand up comedy had value. He looked at me like I was joking. Well, I DID NOT GET HERE BY JOKING WITH MY CAREER,” Mr. Akporobomerere reminiscence.

Ali Baba complained about the get rich quick syndrome common in the society, blaming it for the cause underdevelopment, piracy amongst other problems facing the country.

See Ali Baba’s post below:

These days it’s very hard to see any youth who does not want to make it in life sharp sharp. And you can not blame them. The examples of sharp sharp successes are everywhere. And the ones who made it without working for it abound. In fact this particular type of success trajectory, is more everywhere than the type that comes from working hard and making it from having made it the right way. That explains why many people just want to blow. And it also explains why not much value is given to people who succeeded after putting in their sweat and blood. This is why someone will take a movie you worked day and night to make. Spent 100 of millions. And they will just duplicate it and reap where they did not sow. It’s happening on a national scale. The Niger Delta and some other states are generating monies into the national coffers. Other state governors, whose states, are not dropping anything, are just going to the Federal Government to collect a share, and living like they are part of the revenue generation. Same thing across board. People will work for 35 years, put the best of their lives in service. And when it comes to being paid the pensions they contributed towards retirement, it becomes a long story. Even with relationships. A couple will start from nothing. The grace of God now begins to shine through their hard work, Awon Omo wobe will now want to be part of the dividends. But seriously, it also happens in sports. Sportsmen will struggle and Make it to the international scene. Then they are called for National assignment. But the times they struggled don’t register with the government. That’s exactly what happens, also with intellectual properties. No one cares. They only want to caress your success. That’s all. Told a comedian how I slept at Bar Beach. Squatted at Yabatech. Trekked. Borrowed. Starved. Sacrificed… just to show that stand up comedy had value. He looked at me like I was joking. Well, I DID NOT GET HERE BY JOKING WITH MY CAREER. The journey from 50 naira to 5m did not start today. But all the young ones see is the 5m. That’s why many don’t create. Can’t create. They just take jokes others birthed and want to become stars.
