Gunmen Attack Home of Ex-IGP, Kill Police

The residence of a former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Coomasie, was attacked by gunmen on Saturday, resulting in the death of a mobile policeman.

The former IGP and his family however are safe as the gunmen could not gain entrance into the home, although the gunmen escaped with the rifle of one of the stationed policemen.

It was recounted that two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on the two policemen stationed at the gate of the residence at the about 8pm.

The corpse of the slain policeman has been deposited at the mortuary of Katsina General Hospital, where the other injured mobile policeman was receiving treatment.
