Fresh Plateau Attack Claims Three Lives

Three people have been confirmed killed, while two others sustained injuries in a recent attack at Nkienzha, Miango District of Rigwe Chiefdom, Bassa local government area of Plateau State.

The spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, Captain Oya James, who confirmed the incident, said the timely response of the troops made the attackers flee the community.

Also, the publicity secretary of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Davidson Malison, while confirming the incident, said two people were killed on Sunday night. In contrast, one other was killed on Saturday.

The association accused the herders of being responsible for the attack.

But the chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), Garba Abdullahi, denied the accusation.

Malison identified the deceased as Gadan Zhwe (50), Lydia Yakubu (48), Nuhu Yakubu (23), and Musa Wolo (32).

“The leadership of the Rigwe Nation, through the Traditional Council and the Development Association, IDA, has described the resurgence of attacks and killings as callous and brutal and cautioned the perpetrators to halt the mayhem being unleashed in the land immediately. IDA is calling on the security agencies to apprehend and make them face the wrath of the law.”

“We equally call on the constituted authorities to do the needful to restore normalcy in the land so that we can continue our activities without hitches and glitches,” the group said.
