Foundation Takes Sanitation Message To IDP Camps

A non-governmental organization, the Usave Foundation on Saturday visited the Internally Displaced Persons’ IDP Camp in Zyndha, Abuja.

The foundation said the aim of the visit is to sensitize the inhabitants of the camps on proper basic hygiene eszpecially now that the world is battling the Coronavirus pandemic.

It also noted the numerous health and safety benefits inherent in access to clean and portable water, imbibing the culture of regular hand washing and other preventive health habits to forestall the contraction of various medical complications.

The Usave foundation urged Nigerians to keep a clean and healthy lifestyle as well as alerting the authorities of any suspected case of Coronavirus or outbreak of any disease/epidemic in their neighbourhood.

The Founder, Mrs Uju Anwukah said the foundation’s objectives is to help Nigeria achieve some key components of the Social Development Goals of the United Nations.

“ We set out basically to help instill in our communities the need for proper sanitation and healthy living. Portable drinking water for all is also one of our initiatives and we have been to a few IDP camps and have left our mark by drilling bore holes at very point we have visited”.

“ The people here have raised concerns about the education of their children and we will be working with the Rochas Foundation which is a sister foundation to find ways we can help their in that regard”.

“ Last month, we were at Kuchingoro with the same message of a safe and healthy community, next month we will be taking this message to a different location”.

The foundation dug boreholes and gifted sanitation materials to the IDPs while advocating proper sanitation as the antidote to preventing diseases.
