Five Docked For Fraud

Five persons, including a woman have been arraigned before a Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, presided over by M.A. Awodele for alleged fraud.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Olu Aboderin, the accused persons duped one Mr Agboola Bensalah on the 4th of December, 2012.

The five persons are Amusan Musa, Sali Laisu, Hassan Oladipo, Salawu Waheed, Fasilat Waheed.

In the eight-count charge for which they were brought to court, the accused were alleged of obtaining N800,000 from one Agboola Akinola Bensalah under the pretence of selling some plots of land situated at Ponpola village, knowing same to be false.

The charge sheet also stated that one of the accused persons, Amusan Musa, at Ofatedo Area Osogbo did obtained the sum of N100,000 from the same complainant with the pretence that he will produce a survey plan that covers two acres of land knowing same to be false.

It also stated that, three of the accused persons Amusan Musa, Sali Laisu, and Fasilatu Waheed on the same date time, and place obtained N500,000 from the same complainant under the false pretence of selling two acres of land to him.

The charge sheet also reveal that the five accused persons did threatened the life of the complainant telling him he will be killed shortly and consistently parading themselves around the resident of the complainant at Ofatedo Area, Osogbo.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the allegations leveled against them and their counsel, Suleiman Kazeem applied for their bail, praying that the bail be granted on a liberal term.

The accused persons were granted bail in a sum of N250,000 each and the case was adjourned till August 1, 2017.
