Female Guber Aspirant Promises To Build Youths For Development

By Solomon Odeniyi

A female aspirant for the Osun state gubernatorial election, Mercy Ayodele has lamented the continued marginalization of youths by successive administrations in the state.

She noted that if the dangerous trend is not curbed it could be a recipe for disaster and full blown security crisis.

Mercy who is contesting under the platform of the Restoration Party of Nigeria spoke while submitting her letter of intent at the party’s Secretariat in Osogbo last Monday.

She said, based on her findings, the youths make half of the population in the state, noting that any state who does not build its youths would have a bleak future.

Mercy stated that her administration mandate, if elected, was to empower the youths for small scale enterprise which would make them useful to themselves, the state and the nation at large.

She bemoaned successive administrations for lip services to the welfare of workers and denying pensioners their emoluments in the state, promising the proposition of new legislation that would see to workers welfare across the state.

She added: “I will see to the economic prosperity of the state. I will as well propose a city centre revitalization project that would promote location of businesses and industries in the state. To ensure a perfect health care, we shall invest in providing an insurance scheme to cover both primary and secondary health related issues for all citizens and residents of the state irrespective of their status.’’

The state Party Chairman, Tosin Adeyemi while receiving the letter of intent said his party identifies with the youths using their strength and the wisdom of the elders to steer its affairs.

He added that the party, unlike others, offers a level playing ground to all willing contestants under its platform, noting that godfatherism and moneybag politics do not exist in the party.

He warned that any political party who underrates his party does that at its own peril in the forthcoming election, adding that the people of the state have had enough of the ruling APC and PDP, saying victory was sure for his party come September 22.
