STUDENTS of the Federal Polytechnic Ede, State of Osun, took to the street yesterday, to protest the killing of their colleague identified as Dele, popularly known as Oloore.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Dele, a graduating student of the polytechnic, recently came into the town for his final clearance in preparation for mobilisation for the compulsory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
It was learnt that Dele was hit by stray bullet during a gun battle between members of the Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC) and some miscreants headed by one Oko Ilu in the town.
Dele was on a commercial motorcycle when he was hit by bullet, it was gathered. The commercial motorcyclists, simply identified as Obadina, was also said to have been shot.
The corpse of the deceased was deposited at the mortuary of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital Osogbo.
Students of the institution yesterday trooped out to protest the killings, calling on the state government and the police to restore peace in Ede.
The protesting students matched to the palace of the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa I, to demand that the perpetrators of the break down of law and order be arrested and brought to book.
