A 25-year-old ex-convict, Abideen Damilola, has again been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for stealing 21 inches mattress valued N70,000.
Damilola was arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun on two count charges of house breaking and felony to wit stealing.
The Prosecutor, Olayiwola Rasaq, told the court that the convict committed the offense in June 2018 at Alare community, Ota-efun, Osogbo.
He said the convict conducted himself in criminal act by breaking into the house of one Aderanti Ganiyu to commit felony and stealing.
Other items stolen by the convict included a 12-by-12 rug valued N15, 000, two big cooler valued unknown, one 6kg cylinder valued N10,000, one big mat (valued unknown), two pillow valued N3,000.
The Prosecutor said that all the items stolen valued N98,000.
He said the convict had been jailed for stealing honey at Ede, adding that the stolen items were recovered from the convict house after his arrest.
The alleged offence, according to the charge sheet, contravened section 413, 383, and punishable under sections 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun State, 2003.
The convict admitted guilty of the two count charges of house breaking and stealing leveled against him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Falilat Sodamade, sentenced the convict to seven years imprisonment on count one and seven years on count two.
She ruled that the sentences should run concurrently and the exhibit returned to the owner on bond after 30 days.
