EFCC Confirms Arrest Of Ex-Soldier, Internet Fraudsters In Osun

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan zonal office has confirmed the arrest of 33 suspected internet fraudsters, otherwise known as “Yahoo Boys” in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun, earlier today.

According to a statement on its Facebook handle on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency explained that the suspects were arrested in different locations in Osogbo.

According to the statement, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 18, 2021 arrested a former soldier, Adebisi Jamiu and 33 others for suspected internet fraud.

“The suspects were picked up in different locations in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.”

It was gathered the EFCC operatives sneaked into the state capital to arrest suspected fraudsters but were waylaid on their way out after arresting some suspects and seized about 20 exotic cars.

The operatives reportedly had to run for safety to avoid being mobbed by the angry youths, who set bonfire at Lameco junction in the state capital.

Confirming the incident, Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the Police have been trying to control the situation from further escalation.

“We are aware of the situation, we are now trying to appease the protesters and clear the bonfire so that people can go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment”, she said.
