Deputy Gov of Kano State, Hafiz Abubakar Tenders Resignation

Hafiz Abubakar, the Deputy Governor of Kano State has tendered his resigned from his position clearly stating disrespect for his office and “immeasurable and unjustifiable humiliation” as the reasons for his decision by the Gvernor.

In his letter addressed to the Governor of the state Abdullahi Ganduje, Abubakar attributed his maltreatment to the difference in positions and his desire to “to keep the government on track.”

“I have endured immeasurable and unjustifiable humiliation for over two and a half years without any reason other than my principled position on the issues of governance and the desire to keep the government on track,” said in the letter.

“Under the circumstances and given the deteriorating state of affairs and your continued disrespect for the office of the deputy governor as well as your expression of several injustices on my person. I regret to say that I have no option than to succumb to my inner calling with the hope that this decision is in accordance with the guidance and wishes of Allah (SWT) for me and good people of Kano state.”

His resignation came days after the People’s Democratic Party announced that Abubakar has defected to the party from the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The former Deputy Governor, Prof Hafiz Abubakar had on Tuesday, July 31, petitioned the state police Commissioner, Mr Rabi’u Yusuf and Department of Security Service over alleged threat to his life and plans to impeach him.
