A Magistrate court sitting in Osogbo has pardoned a 38-year-old woman Moronkeji Adekola over stealing. The accused person is facing a one-count charge of stealing before Magistrate Falilat Sodamade.
Police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police, Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused person committed the offence on August 10, 2018 at Vanguard Pharmacy and Supermarket, opposite Technical College, Osogbo. ASP Fagboyinbo said the accused stole the following items: Well-woman Multivitamin, vitamin C, clinic clear body cream, fiesta condom, soaps, perfumes, drugs, rechargeable lambs, hair relaxers among other items yet unknown, all valued N120, 000 properties of Vanguard Pharmacy and Supermarket.
He further said the offence committed is contrary and punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code Cap 34 Vol. ll laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.
The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge against her. Defence counsel, Okobe Najite prayed the court to temper justice with mercy, that his client has learnt her lessons and will never indulge in such acts.
He added that she is a first time offender and would turn for good if given a second chance. The accused person who was draped in tears, admitted to the crime but pledged never to get involved in such social vice in her life.
The Magistrate in her judgement cautioned the accused person not to let such a happen again and was discharged.
