A 39-year-old man, Sa’idu Mohammed, was sentenced on Tuesday to 14 years of imprisonment for sodomizing a 12-year-old boy.
The sentence was handed over by Justice Mu’azu Abubakar of the Bauchi State High Court.
Justice Abubakar, however, gave the convict the option of a N100,000 fine.
The convict had earlier pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr. S.M. Toro, earlier informed the court that the convict, on June 16, 2022, lured the victim to a river in the Yelwa community and sodomized him.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 10 and is punishable under Section 11 of the anti-kidnapping, theft of cattle, and Rape Special Provision Laws of Bauchi State B.S.L.N. No. 8 of 2007.
