Blurry Hope For Omisore’s Governorship Ambition

By Sodiq Lawal
Even as the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Osun state chapter, confirmed that Senator Iyiola Omisore is a card carrying member of the party, there is a growing concern that the Ife born politician might have lost the battle to become the next Governor of the State of Osun.
Investigations by our reporter shown that Omisore has met with Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwunsi and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his governorship ambition.
But findings revealed that both Ooni and Tinubu have urged Omisore to wait for another 8 years before he can win the governorship seat.
It could also be recalled that the a former close associate of Senator Iyiola Omisore, Mr Diran Odeyemi had said that he is of the opinion that Omisore needs to shelve his governorship ambition.
“He has been doing that for years without any fruition. My view is that he should bury his governorship ambition because he is more than that and seek higher offices than that of a Governor. Results of former elections have shown that he cannot be Governor in Osun,” Odeyemi noted.
However, scores of political stakeholders in Ife who spoke annonymity to our correspondent said that if Ife want to produce next governor, it will never be Omisore.
Our correspondent gathered that the Peoples Democratic Party in Ile Ife have abandoned Omisore and started campaigning for an Ile Ife business mogul, Chief Gbenga Owolabi.
Investigation also revealed that the Ooni is in support of Owolabi, who is also the Oluomo of the Source, visited and had sought royal blessings, which the revered monarch showered on him and assured him of his backing.
