Aregbesola On Productivity For Economic Growth

Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has again reiterated the need for members of the society to embrace work and productivity as a means of creating wealth to boost economy. 

He stated that the wealth of the society is directly tied to the wealth of the people which can only be achieved through hard work.

Aregbesola stated this recently while delivering an address at the State of Osun Merit Award and Public Service Lecture which was held in Osogbo.

The governor stressed on the need for residents of the state to engage in productive activities to enhance the economy of the state so as not to jeopardize the future of the coming generations.

“We need to realize that we must be hardworking to be self reliant as a people, our society cannot move forward if we don’t engage in productive activities.

“The level of wealth we can boast of as a people is limited to the effort we put into being productive. It is also very unfortunate that our population is growing at an alarming rate which is the reason why the percentage of poor people is on the increase in our country.

“You cannot be richer than the effort you put into work and the same thing applies to our society, the level of riches in our society is directly tied to how wealthy members of the society are through the amount  of effort they put into work”, the governor stated.

While thanking civil servants in the state for their perseverance, the governor stressed that the step taken on modulated salary was necessary to avoid a total collapse of the system.

Aregbesola who explained that government has never at any point in time denied the fact that the civil servants are being owed, stressed that it was a step taken for the continued existence of the state.

Delivering a goodwill message, renowned labour leader, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu OON, who eulogised Governor Aregbesola for the outstanding successes of his administration, said it is worthy of note that when the economy of the was okay, the administration took care of the welfare of workers in the state.

He also commended workers in the state for showing understanding with the state government during the period of financial distress, noting that the workers have made the state proud through their patience and perseverance.
