Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the upcoming Anambra state governorship poll, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has said the State loses an average of N19.6billion any day a sit-at-home protest is observed.
The Professor of Economics said this during a meeting with elders and stakeholders in the state on Saturday.
He called on those behind the killing and maiming in the state to have a rethink, stating that violence is not Anambra’s way of life.
He said, “Anambra state economy loses an estimated sum of N19.6bn every time the sit-at-home directive is enforced in the state.
“I call on the people of the state to be watchful. I praise the outstanding achievements of Governor Willie Obiano who has delivered sustainable legacy projects to Ndi Anambra, including the Anambra International airport; the International convention centre, Awka and the Awka stadium.
“The governor has done well despite overseeing two recessions and the state suffering dwindling federal allocations.”
