The National Council of Women Society (NCWS) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, asking him to make public the outcome of the investigation into an alleged N10 million bribe case involving the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Ayilara Olukayode.

Olukayode, who is the head of the IGP X-Squad in the state, was said to have physically assaulted the Executive Chairman of the Benue State Board of Internal Revenue, Mimi Adzape Orubibi, who refused to yield to the N10 million bribe demanded by him.

Subsequently, the IGP on February 8, summoned him to Abuja for questioning and promised the people of Benue state that an unbiased investigation will be carried out on the matter.

The Secretary of NCWS, Felicia Atokaa, while addressing journalists in Makurdi, the Benue state capital on Thursday, however, stressed that the incident will not go unchallenged even if the IGP failed to reprimand the ACP accordingly.

Consequently, the women organisation, said it will mobilize a two-day protest in Abuja and Makurdi, if the police refuse to heed their call for justice as well as gender-based harassment.
