Akwa Ibom State Government is working towards creating over 20,000 jobs for youths in the state through investment in cocoa project, seaport and entrepreneurial development.
Governor Udom Emmanuel made this known while addressing indigenes on the aegis of Akwa Ibom State Community, AKISCOM, in Lagos. He said that the government was doing a lot on the seaport to ensure that the potentials within the coastal line, which is a major asset to the area, is fully utilised to enhance economic growth and development.
Our target in the long-run is to make Akwa Ibom thehub of cocoa production in the entire West African sub-region. “Also, we are working on the second runway of our airport to make the state investments destination by maximising economic resources within the region to create wealth and sustainable growth. My vision is to make our people earn a decent living and not to beg for a living. We are working tirelessly to attract Foreign Direct Investments, FDIs, to boost industrialisation in the state. That is why the second runway is important to us, because it will serve as a perfect alternative in tackling emergencies. “The second runway project is an asset capable of generating returns to enhance the license of cargo operations in our airport. Our strategy is to design the terminal to meet international standard specifications,” he added.
