Another Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, has been ruled out of the 2023 African Cup of Nations and replaced by Trabzonspor forward, Paul Onuachu.
This was contained in a statement posted on the official Super Eagles X account on Friday.
Recalled that fellow striker, Victor Boniface was so ruled after picking up an injury.
AFCON which will be hosted by Ivory Coast will start tomorrow, January 13.
Umar picked up a knee injury in Nigeria’s 2-0 friendly defeat to the Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday.
The statement on X read, “Sadiq Umar is out of the AFCON 2023 squad due to injury and Paul Onuachu replaces him.”
Onuachu, in 15 games for Trabzonspor this season, has nine goals and three assists.
