Supporters of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola and Governor Ademola Adeleke have gone spiritual ahead of today’s verdict of the Supreme Court on the July 16, 2022 governorship election in the State of Osun.

The 5-man panel of the apex court led by Justice John Iyang Okoro, had yesterday reserved judgment for 2pm today after taking the final comments of the plaintiffs as well as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respondents.

Oyetola is seeking the upturn of the verdict of the March 24 Court of Appeal judgement that upheld the victory of Governor Adeleke.

Oyetola and Adeleke

Loyalists of the two parties took to their various social media platforms on Monday and earlier today to seek the face of God for victory.

Nurudeen Alani, a PDP sympathiser wrote: “And at the end of today, we shall have reasons to be joyous and glorify the name of God Almighty, For in Jesus’ name, I prayed. Amen!”

“Waina judana laumuligalibuna ota ile wa ati ota ode, won le ri won si sagu L’ogo Olurun a ma bori won…,Wallah Ama bori won,” an aide to Governor Adeleke, Oladejo Yusuff Damilare noted.

Another staunch supporter of the Governor, Iyiola Monsuru said: “May Governor Adeleke be Victorious today. Say Amen.”

The situation is indifferent on the side of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as majority of the followers of the former governor are hopeful for a favourable verdict today.

Afeez Ogungbemi, an Oyetola supporter prayed: “Oh Allah, please reinstate Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as the winner of the July 16, 2022, Osun governor poll…… Ameen. IleriOluwa ma se leekansi.”

Afolabi Henry Adedapo wrote “I PROPHESY GOOD NEWS, VICTORY TO APC OSUN ..in the name of Jesus!,” just as Waheed Adekunle, a media assistant to the former Governor said “Oh Allah, Victory Is From No One Except You, Please, Grant Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola victory today.”

Feelers from both camps indicated palpable tension among the supporters of the two politicians while residents call for heavy security especially in Osogbo, the state capital as well as other flashpoints in the state.
