80% Of National Assembly Members ‘ll End In Penury – Senate Chief Whip

Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Professor Sola Adeyeye has prophesied that most of those in the National Assembly as members would end their lives in penury.

He said not less than 80 per cent of them will end up in penury due to their ‘conspiracy of prodigality’.

Adeyeye spoke on the floor of the Osun House of Assembly when he observed the presentation of the 2019 budget estimates by Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Thursday.

Apparently reacting to a comment by the Assembly Speaker, Dr Najeem Salaam over the ‘display of shame’ in the National Assembly when President Muhammadu Buhari when to present the 2019 budget, Adeyeye discouraged the State parliamentarian from looking up to those that are conspiring against the people.

“Mr Speaker let me give a prophesy, not from the Bible, that not less than 80 per cent of us in the National Assembly will end their lives in penury.

“Rather than looking up to Abuja, here, set a template of probity, of frugality and of decency.”

Also, the Assembly Speaker, Dr Salaam and his predecessor, Hon Adejare Hello described as a national embarrassment, the display of some members of the National Assembly during the Buhari’s appearance for the budget presentation.

They said that in the history of Nigeria, such has never happened, saying it was an indication that those is the ‘drama of shame’ are the ones not interested in the effort of the government to reposition the country.
