2023: NSCDC Vows To Protect INEC Offices

As the general elections draw nearer, the Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Akinsanya has promised to protect all Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices and installations in the 25 Local Councils in the state.

The State Commander, also assured of close monitoring of all political developments in order to study the threats and how to curb them, adding that his men would maintain vigil and reinforce security measures in the state.

Abiodun, who made the promise while unveiling his command’s 2023 projections in Asaba, disclosed that “there would be deployment of over 4,000 personnel to work in synergy with other sister security agencies for a smooth conduct of next month’s general elections.”

He said he would also make deployment of personnel to all critical national assets and Infrastructures, noting that through training and retraining of personnel for greater efficiency considering the forthcoming general elections.

The NSCDC boss emphasised that his command would “create channels for feedback from employees, communities, the public, civil society groups and the grassroots through effective coordination.”

On the Safe Schools Initiative, he explained that both public and private schools would be constantly visited by his men in order to provide adequate security within and outside school premises.

He said he had written to the school on the need to provide perimeter fence around, adding that his men would work in synergy with private security guards engaged by private schools with a view to ensuring adequate supervision of security operations in and around schools for maximum protection of lives and property.
