2020: Oyetola Restates Commitment To New Minimum Wage, Improved Workers’ Welfare

By Sodiq Yusuf

Governor, State of Osun, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has restated his commitment to improving the condition of service for the state workforce by ensuring the payment of the New Minimum Wage.

Oyetola stated this just as he re-echoed the need for the support of stakeholders on the realization of the government’s determination for the continued progress of the state.

The Governor spoke on yesterday at the annual inter-religious prayer organized by the state government to herald the New Year 2020 held at the Bola Ige House, State Secretariat, Abere.

He sought for the cooperation of workers in boosting the revenue generation potentials of the state, while banking on the gains of the recently held Economic and Investment Summit for the economic turnaround of Osun.

Oyetola noted the sterling contributions of all stakeholders in the successes achieved by his administration in the out-gone year, stressing its imperativeness in 2020.

The Governor said: “I went on Lesser Hajj to glorify God for his mercies and grace over me and my administration after the commitment I made before getting the Supreme Court verdict. I am of the belief that my supplications for the continued peace and the development of the state have been accepted by the Almighty.

“We have shown commitment to the payment of full salaries even with the economic situation. I am convinced that by the grace of God, we would be able to pay the new Minimum Wage with the support of all stakeholders, especially workers who are responsible for revenue generation.

“I urge all taxable adults to pay their taxes to the state as and when due. It is with this that we would have enough resources to deliver on our promises to the citizenry. We would work hard to achieve the goals and developmental aspirations of our people within the available resources.”

In his remarks, the state Head of Service, Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade flanked by the Heads of MDAs in the state, was full of gratitude to the Governor and his team for prioritizing the welfare of the state civil servants.

Oyebade who reassured the Governor of the resolve of the public servants in showing diligence to duty, pledged their loyalty to the present administration in the state.

Religious leaders at the event harped on the need for the fear of God and sincerity of purpose from the leadership and followership, praying for continued peace and progress cum prosperity for the state in the New Year 2020.
