Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has ordered the enrollment all pensioners in the state for free medical services into Osun Health Insurance Scheme.
Executive Secretary, Osun Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, made this known on Thurday at the Health Care Providers Quarterly Forum Meeting, held at government Secretariat, Osogbo.
He explained that the free medical services was a right to the retirees having served the state for long.
He also said health condition of pensioners in the state remain sacrosant to the governor stating that they deserve quality health service from the government.
He further added that registration for the senior citizens has commenced in earnest and the retirees would be presented their cards of commemoration at a later date.
According to him: Senator Ademola Adeleke has given us the order to enroll all pensioners in the state that their health is very sacrosanct. All of them came out in their large numbers to vote during the election and they deserve to be compensated.
“It is not even a compensation, it is their right because they have right to good health at that age having served the state for that long.
“We have commenced the registration and in the next one or two weeks we will finish the registration. Infact, the governor is going to present their identity cards in commemoration with the first year anniversary celebration, he concluded.
