15 Phone Snatchers Arrested In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 15 young men, belonging to a group called Shila Boys, who specialised in snatching phones and other belongings from residents.

Osun Defender reports that hardly a week passed in the last two to three months without a couple of the boys being arrested.

This was contained in a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje disclosed that nine mobile phones, a POS machine, dangerous weapons, and hard drugs were recovered.

The suspects are: Abdullahi Shuaibu, 18; Auwal Saleh, 18; Usman Abdullahi, 21; Auwal Isah, 20; Usman Ahmadu, 32; Muhammad Abubakar, 18; and Jamilu Hassan, 19.

The others are Abdulsalam Abdullahi, 20; SalisuUmar, 19; Yahya Umaru, 25; Salahudeen Auwal,18; Yusuf Ahmed, 20; Jamilu Sani, 18; Abraham Joel, 18; and Muhammad Auwal, 19.

Nguroje revealed that the suspects were arrested during the just concluded Sallah celebrations within Yola Town in Yola South LGA, Jimeta in Yola North LGA, and the environs.

He added, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, appreciates the good people of Adamawa State for their collaboration in the fight against armed robbery, housebreaking and violent crimes by radical ‘Shila’ cult group.”
